Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems with Magnum, one of their top approved fabricators and installers, completed this High School project in Essex in May 2000. The project took 40 weeks to complete and ran to programme.

This was a new build project and key elements involved 18m high by 1m wide windows with top hung opening vents. To complete the project Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems recommended Comar 2 window walling, which integrated with Comar 5lt 45mm windows. This provided slim-lights and the aesthetically pleasing design concept that the architect demanded.

Comar 2 window walling is a unique system which is a cost competitive alternative to curtain walling. Comar 2 extensive range of profiles includes high Ixx value span mullions and transoms, there are two profile widths available 35mm and 45mm. This means that spans such as this can be easily attained with the same slim sight lines throughout the project. Magnum liaised with Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems to obtain wind-loading calculations to ensure the right mullions and transoms were specified.

Comar 5 50mm window system was used for a variety of window configurations fitted, where required, with locking handles and restrictors.

The main entrances were fitted with Comar 2 window walling and Comar 7 Doors. As this was a school project, where safety and access considerations are of paramount importance, anti-finger traps and complementary bright handles were fitted to all doors to ensure compliance with the very latest building regulations.
