Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems with their approved fabricator ELFAB Aluminium Limited, recently completed this £22 million project, part of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The three-storey build is joined to the existing hospital at the first floor by a newly constructed link bridge. The main consideration was not to impinge in any way on the smooth running of the existing hospital, so liaison with hospital security and health and safety teams was a critical element to the successful completion of the project.

Comar 5P.i., thermally efficient windows were installed, which met the design brief as well as meeting the standards laid down in Approved Document L. One of the inherent properties of Comar 5P.i is its integration: grey/silver EuroClad panels were used throughout the elevations.

Comar 7 doors were used for entrances which are available in a variety of configurations such as swing, sliding, pivot, rebated and sliding folding. For feature and light Comar 6 curtain walling was used to create two storey facades and glazed canopies over entrance areas. All the Comar aluminium on the project was polyester powder coated to a blue RAL colour.
