Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems and K2 Aluminium Systems Limited, a Comar approved fabricator, supplied the façade system for “The Lauries Centre”, a community project for Wirral Council. Situated in the principle residential area in Liverpool, “The Lauries Centre” is a social enterprise set to provide a range of key services for the local community as well as offering high quality conference facilities.

The atrium’s facetted screen was achieved with Comar 6 stick-build curtain walling where the angle returns were created by adjustable corner mullions. For the entrances, Comar 6 directly incorporated Comar 7 butt-hung automatic doors.

For the side entrances, on the rest of the elevations, the envelope features Comar 2 window walling incorporating Comar 7 doors. Comar 5P.i horizontal pivot windows were specified to create the opening vents in Comar 2. Because all Comar systems are totally integrated, the slim 50mm sight lines are maintained throughout the façade.

“The Lauries Centre” is situated on a busy thoroughfare, which meant site time was limited. The potential problems were alleviated with Comar market-leading delivery, which facilitated the fabrication and installation to be completed on time.
