Thermal Efficiency & Accurate U-value Calculations
Accurate U-value calculations of fenestration are a must if the correct whole building method is used. Comar has the technical ability to offer this service to architects and specifiers, which means that detailed information can be supplied to building regulation departments in Local Authorities.
In order for a systems company to provide this information to an interested party, the aluminium system must be put through a hot-box test or software which specifically calculates the thermal transmittance of the profile.
The BRE calculator uses this information to accurately calculate U-values for every size and configuration of the Comar range.
U-values
Comar calculates accurate U-values by using BRE EN ISO 10077-1 method of calculation using the BRE U-VALUE Calculator Version 1.07b.
Wind Loading Calculations
Comar's Technical Department will offer project-by-project deflection loads for its aluminium systems. This can be used to specifiy specific mullions and transoms for the envelope. The importance of this can be seen when tenders are returned: some quotes may differ because they are not using the heavy-duty profiles that will be required for some spans. This may increase the deflection levels on the curtain wall, resulting in a poor installation.
Wind Loading calculations can be obtained using the new legislation and Comar recommend that you consult their Technical Department or architectural advisors at the early design phase of any project.
